AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the use of Triangle
Park and the temporary closing of certain public streets for the Waukee
Music Festival
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closings are related to the
Waukee Music Festival scheduled for Saturday, August 5, in Triangle
Park and surrounding downtown business area.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVING THE USE OF TRIANGLE PARK AND THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF
CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS FOR THE WAUKEE MUSIC FESTIVAL
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Steven Stroud, owner of The ‘Kee bar, in coordination with a professional event promotion
company, proposes a Waukee Music Festival event that takes place in the Triangle Park area and within the
Downtown Triangle Business District; AND,
WHEREAS, Mr. Stroud requests that the following City streets be closed from Friday, August 4, 2017 at
8:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. for the event:
Ashworth Drive from 5th Street north and west to 6th Street,
6th Street from Ashworth Drive south to Locust Street,
Walnut Street from 5th Street west to 125 feet west of 6th Street; AND,
WHEREAS, Mr. Stroud also requests the use of Triangle Park during these same said dates and times;
AND,
WHEREAS, Mr. Stroud has provided documentation demonstrating that Downtown Triangle Business
District business owners are in support of the event and temporary street closings; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 5th day of
June, 2017, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain public streets noted above for the
Waukee Music Festival;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council that it hereby approves the use of
Triangle Park during same said dates and times for the purpose of the Waukee Music Festival.
