AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the waiver of the
building permit fee for the construction of an office build-out at 208 W.
Hickman Road (Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce)
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City notified the Chamber of Commerce last
fall that it would not be renewing the Chamber’s lease which is set to
expire in November 2017 due to the need for the City to utilize the space
for additional staff. The Chamber has been able to secure a new location
at 208 W. Hickman Road and intends on being out of the City space by
the end of November. Staff received a request from the Waukee Area
Chamber of Commerce requesting that the costs of the building permit
fee be waived for their new office space.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Approximately $600.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The City and the Chamber of Commerce have a strong
relationship that works to the benefit of each party and the community.
Staff would recommend the building permit fee for the new Chamber of
Commerce office space be waived.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVING THE WAIVER OF THE BUILDING PERMIT FEE FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF AN OFFICE BUILD-OUT AT 208 W. HICKMAN ROAD
(WAUKEE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE)
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce currently leases space from the City
within the City Hall Complex at 230 W. Hickman Road; AND,
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce lease is set to expire on November 30, 2017 and the
City has chosen not to renew the lease because of needs of the City; AND,
WHEREAS, the Chamber has found space for a new office to be located at 208 W. Hickman
Road which will require a full build-out of the office space; AND,
WHEREAS, the Chamber has made a request to the City to waive the cost of the building
permit for the office build-out which is estimates at a cost of approximately $600.00; AND,
WHEREAS, the City and the Chamber have a strong relationship that works to the benefit of
each party and the community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
19th day of June, 2017, that it hereby approves the waiver of the building permit cost associated
with the build-out of the office space at 208 W. Hickman Road for the Waukee Area Chamber of
Commerce.
