AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a motion setting a Public Hearing to
consider the disposal of real property by sale to RMCA, LLC for
September 5, 2017 pursuant to Iowa Code 364.7 (2017)
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Earlier this year, the City sold property that is located
west of Waukee Elementary and north of Waukee Public Works to Jerry’s Homes,
Inc. for the development of single family lots.
The City had previously identified the future right of way for Northview Drive which
was not a part of the sale of the property. As a part of the platting process, it has
been determined that the extension of Northview Drive will not fit within the
confines of the previously platted right of way.
In coordination with the City Attorney, staff will recommend for consideration that
the City Council sell the existing right of way at no cost to the developer. In
exchange, the developer will dedicate the new right of way necessary for the street
that is currently being constructed.
Staff has been coordinating the development of an office project on property owned
by Ashworth Properties, Inc. on what will be the intersection of Grand Prairie
Parkway and SE Esker Ridge Drive.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of setting the public
hearing for September 5, 2017 to further discuss the sale of the City
owned property and the acquisition of the replacement property with
RMCA, LLC
RECOMMENDATION: Set the Public Hearing Date
