AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution awarding contract [I-80 West
Industrial Park Lift Station and Water Main Extension Project]
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on August 16, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Ten (10) apparent bids were received,
with the low bid submitted by Raccoon Valley Contractors of Waukee,
IA, in the amount of $1,074,999.90.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $1,074,999.90
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends deferring award of the contract
for the I-80 West Industrial Park Lift Station and Water Main Extension
to enable the Developer and Staff time to complete the Development
Agreement.
RECOMMENDATION: Defer awarding contract until the September 5th meeting.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE I-80 WEST INDUSTRIAL PARK LIFT
STATION AND WATER MAIN EXTENSION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the I-80 West Industrial Park Lift Station and Water Main Extension,
described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on August 21, 2017,
be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for
such work, as follows:

Amount of bid:
$1,074,999.90
Portion of project:
All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
