Typically, the purchase of the bridge and abutments are a bid item in the project construction documents however due to having the construction of the bridge completed yet this year. With the City ordering the bridge and abutments ahead of the project bid date of August 29", this will expedite the lead time for bridge manufacturing and delivery, which is between 6-12 weeks. This proposal, if accepted by The City of Waukee within thirty (30 days) from the date hereof, shall constitute a binding contract. CONTECH is prepared to start on this request upon receipt of the signed proposal. DESCRIPTION OF PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AND EXPRESS PRECAST ABUTMENTS: The material cost for the PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AND EXPRESS PRECAST ABUTMENTS is estimated to be approximately $28,950. This includes: • One (1) 30'span x 10' wide Continental "Express" pedestrian bridge (aisc design) • Weathering Steel finish • Capacity to handle 8,000 lb vehicle load • Concrete deck (reinforcement and concrete provided by others, Contech will provide design & stay in place form pans) • %4" x 6" steel toe & cover plates • Horizontal safety rail • Two (2) precast "Express" abutments — 13.5' wide x 4' thick x 4' tall (require a total of approx. 8.8 cy of field poured concrete, including abutment backwalls). Abutments are based on 3,000 psf net allowable soil bearing capacity. All abutment steel provided by Contech. "Fixed end" anchor bolts will be affixed to one Express Abutment. Contractor will be responsible for placing the four anchor bolts on the "free end" abutment. Each Express Abutment will weigh approximately 8.3 tons. This material estimate is preliminary and may change upon further refinement of the design. Estimate includes delivery to jobsite. A separate contract with Terms and Conditions for the PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AND EXPRESS PRECAST ABUTMENTS will be provided after the approval of the design documents. DESCRIPTION OF ENGINEERING SERVICES: CONTECH proposes to provide The City of Waukee the following engineering services signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer registered in the State of Iowa. • Prepare Engineering Calculations and details for the PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE & EXPRESS PRECAST ABUTMENTS, assuming an allowable bearing capacity of 3,000 psf. • Prepare PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE & EXPRESS PRECAST ABUTMENT Shop Drawings The engineering services provided under this contract are only applicable to the CONTECH product described above. Use of any other structure with this design and drawings voids any certification of this design and warranty. CONTECH assumes no liability for design of any alternate or similar type structures. Please note that a site plan including proposed grades, roadway alignment, bridge location, and profile sections along with a geotechnical report specific to the project bridge is highly recommended prior to the start of design.
