AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain portions of public streets on Thursday, September 28,
2017, for the Waukee Community School District Homecoming Parade
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is in order to
accommodate the Waukee High School homecoming parade.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVAL OF THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2017, FOR THE WAUKEE COMMUNITY
SCHOOL DISTRICT HOMECOMING PARADE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee High School will have its 2017 football homecoming game on the evening of
Friday, September 29; AND,
WHEREAS, as part of the homecoming festivities, the Waukee High School student council has
scheduled a parade to be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017, and requests that certain streets be
closed temporarily for the parade route; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 5th day
of September, 2017, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain portions of streets from
the Vince Meyer Learning Center parking lot west on Locust to Sixth Street, north on Sixth Street to
Ashworth Drive, south and east on Ashworth Drive to Fourth Street, south on Fourth Street to
Northview Drive, east on Northview Drive to Warrior Lane, south on Warrior Lane to the Waukee
Middle School parking lot for the Waukee Community School District Homecoming Parade, with said
street closing between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28,
2017.
