AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of Motion setting September 18, 2017, as the date
of public hearing on the vacation of the original sanitary sewer easement
related the Northwest Area Trunk Sewer Extension – Phases 2 and
3/Copeland Trunk Sewer – Phase 1 [Phillips-Hamilton, Inc.]
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: A revised easement was approved for the construction of
the gravity sanitary sewer main for the Northwest Area Trunk Sewer
Extension – Phases 2 and 3/Copeland Trunk Sewer – Phase 1. Adjustment to
the easement was necessary to accommodate the revised location the Spring
Crest Plat 2 sanitary sewer main will be connecting to this project’s sanitary
sewer main. The original easement is no longer necessary therefore staff is
recommending vacating the original easement. A public hearing is required to
be set prior to vacation of the easement.

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the City of Waukee, Iowa will hold a public
hearing on the 18th day of September 2017, at 5:30 o’clock p.m. at the Waukee City Hall, 230
W. Hickman Road, Waukee, Iowa 50263, for purposes of discussing the City’s vacation of
public sanitary sewer easement on property legally described as:
Commencing at the Northeast corner of said Government Lot 1; thence North 89º26’43”
West (all bearings referenced to Grid North Iowa State Plane Coordinate System South
Zone), 1,935.50 feet along the North line of said Government Lots 1 and 2; thence South
00º33’17” West, 65.62 feet to the South right-of-way line of 300th Street, also known as
University Avenue, said point being the point of beginning; thence South 48°36'56" East,
375.61 feet; thence South 59°13'26" East, 728.53 feet; thence South 19°31'11" West,

YOU ARE FURTHER AND SPECIFICALLY NOTIFIED that a copy of proposed
ordinance vacating said easement can be seen at the City Clerk’s Office located at the Waukee
City Hall, 230 W. Hickman Road, Waukee, Iowa 50263, during regular business hours up
through the date of the hearing.
YOU ARE FURTHER AND SPECIFICALLY NOTIFIED that at the time and place
aforesaid all persons will have opportunity to be heard for or against said agreement. Following
such hearing, the City Council will take action on said approval without further notice or
opportunity for hearing.
