AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain public streets for The Waukee 10 Event (Revised)
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On August 7, 2017, the City Council approved
various temporary street closings are related to the Waukee 10 event
scheduled for Saturday, September 6. The race organizer has since
requested a minor modification to the race route, extending one of the
street closings from Ashworth Drive north to Laurel Street.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS FOR
THE WAUKEE 10 EVENT (REVISED)
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, on August 7, 2017, the Waukee City Council approved the temporary closing of
certain public streets for the Waukee 10 event, including a 10-mile race and a separate 5K race
(Resolution #17-371); AND,
WHEREAS, the event organizer has amended the race route and requests that the following City
streets be closed on Saturday, September 16, 2017, and at the times specified for the event:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
11th day of September, 2017, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain public
streets for the Waukee 10 Event (revised).
