A. Use grouting equipment (packer) designed and manufactured for this specific purpose, complete with all necessary hoses, cables, pumps, regulators, valves, etc.; operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B. Provide remote, above ground television observation during the grouting. C. Grouting: 1 . Install packer by positioning across repair area and expand packer seals. 2. Insert grout at pressure greater than groundwater pressure and sufficient to force grout into damage area and void area outside pipe wall, if any. 3. Remove residual grout that extends inside the pipe in such a way as to possibly cause a restriction to flow, or interfere with the passage of floatable materials in the sewage stream, or that reduces the effective diameter of the pipe. 4. Record date, time, location, amount of grout used, and other pertinent information and submit to Engineer. 5. If air test fails, repeat grout procedure. If air test fails again, dig up joint and repair. D. Grout for packer method repairs: 1. Submit data regarding proposed grout with root inhibitor to Engineer for approval prior to beginning of work. 2. General material properties: a. Ability to tolerate some dilution and to react in moving water injection. b. Constant viscosity during the reaction period. d. Controllable reaction time, appropriate for job conditions. e. Reaction which produces a homogeneous, chemically stable, nonbiodegradable, firm, flexible gel. 3. The chemical grout shall be Avanti AV-100. E. Testing: 1. Use a pipe joint testing device specifically designed and manufactured for that purpose (a packer). 2. Provide remote, above ground sensing of void pressure. 3. Provide remote, above ground television observation during the testing. 4. Test pressure: 9 psi 5. Test procedure: a. Position testing device (packer) to straddle the pipe joint being tested. b. Expand seals against pipe walls; use seal pressure high enough to contain testing pressure within the joint test area, when applied. c. Apply air pressure to joint test area, and stop air flow; observe and record initial pressure and final pressure reading; final pressure reading to be taken 15 sec. after initial pressure reading. d. joint will be deemed to have failed if pressure drops 2 psi or more during 15 sec. test period. e.
