AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution setting date of public hearing on the
Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project, Materials

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project will be
located along Alice's Road between Horizon Drive and Southeast Olson
Drive. The project includes the relocation of 4,200 feet of 8-inch transmission
line 30-40 feet west of the current location due to a road project between
Horizon Point Drive and the District Regulation Station located north of
Southeast Olsen Road on Alice's Road. This is the bid for the Project's
materials.

RESOLUTION ORDERING ACQUISITION OF MATERIALS
FOR THE ALICE'S ROAD GAS MAIN RELOCATION
PROJECT AND RATIFYING, CONFIRMING AND
APPROVING DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF BIDS AND
FIXING A DATE FOR HEARING THEREFOR
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable and necessary to acquire certain materials for the
construction of public improvements described in general as the Supply of Materials for the
Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project; and
WHEREAS, the City has caused to be prepared plans, specifications and form of
contract, together with estimate of cost, which are now on file in the office of the City Clerk for
public inspection, for the acquisition of certain materials for the construction of the public
improvements; and
WHEREAS, the plans, specifications and form of contract are deemed suitable for the
acquisition of certain materials for the public improvements; and
WHEREAS, before the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost may
be adopted, and contract for the acquisition of certain materials to be used in the construction of
the public improvements is entered into, it is necessary, pursuant to Chapter 26 of the Code of
Iowa, to hold a public hearing and to advertise for bids; and
WHEREAS, on November 2, 2017, a Notice to Bidders was posted on the City's website,
a relevant contractor plan room service with statewide circulation and a relevant construction
lead generating service with statewide circulation establishing 2:00 P.M. on November 15, 2017
as the deadline for submission of bids and indicating that proposals would be acted upon by the
City Council at 5:30 P.M. on November 20, 2017:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that it is necessary and advisable to acquire
certain materials for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the
Supply of Materials for the Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project, in the manner set forth in
the plans and specifications and form of contract, above referred to, the cost thereof to be paid in
accordance with the provisions as set out in the posted Notice to Bidders and published Notice of
Public Hearing; the materials being more generally described as follows:
Supply materials for the Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project including
4,200 linear feet of 8-inch gas transmission main and miscellaneous associated
materials.
Section 2. That the amount of the bid security to accompany each bid shall be in an
amount which shall conform to the provisions of the notice to bidders approved as a part of the
specifications.
Section 3. That the action of the City Clerk in posting a Notice to Bidders once in a
relevant contractor plan room service with statewide circulation and a relevant construction lead
generating service with statewide circulation and on an internet site sponsored by either the City
or a statewide association that represents the City, such posting having been made not less than
thirteen clear days nor more than forty-five days before the date fixed to receive bids is hereby
ratified, confirmed and approved.
Section 4. That the actions of the Engineer in setting a date for the receipt of bids by
the City Administrator or his designee before 2:00 P.M. on November 15, 2017 for the Supply of
Materials for the Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project are hereby ratified, confirmed and
approved.
Section 5. That the City Clerk be and is hereby directed to publish notice of hearing
once in "The Dallas County News", a legal newspaper, printed wholly in the English language
published at least once weekly and having general circulation in this City. Publication shall be
not less than four clear days nor more than twenty days prior to the date hereinafter fixed as the
date for a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of costs for
the project, the hearing to be at 5:30 P.M. on November 22, 2017.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON SPECIFICATIONS, PROPOSED FORM OF CONTRACT
AND ESTIMATE OF COST FOR MATERIALS FOR ALICE'S ROAD GAS MAIN RELOCATION
PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA.
At 5:30 P.M. on the 20th day of November, 2017, the City Council of Waukee will, in the
Council Chambers at the City Hall, 230 W. Hickman Road, Waukee, Iowa, hold a hearing
and said Council proposes to adopt specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost
and, at the time, date and place specified above, or at such time, date and place as then
may be fixed, to act upon proposals and enter into a contract for the purchase of
materials for the following improvements:
ALICE'S ROAD GAS MAIN RELOCATION PROJECT
Relocate 4,200 feet of 8-inch transmission line 30-40 feet west of the current
location due to a road project between Horizon Point Drive and the District
Regulator Station located north of Southeast Olsen Road on Alice's Road in
Waukee, Iowa.
The Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project will be located along Alice's Road between
Horizon Drive and Southeast Olson Drive.
At said hearing, the City Council will consider the specifications, proposed form of
contract, and estimated cost for the project, the same now being on file in the office of
the City Clerk, reference to which is made for a more detailed and complete description
of the proposed improvements, and at said time and place the said Council will also
receive and consider any objections to said specifications, estimate of cost and form of
contract made by any interested party.
This notice is given by order of the Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa.
