Road Gas Main Relocation Project, Materials]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The bid included three separate bid packages: A, B
and C. Packages A and B are the same except for the completion date.
Bid package C was entirely different in scope from A and B; therefore,
City staff recommends awarding package C independent of A and B.
The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall on November 15,
2017, at 2:00 p.m. Three (3) apparent bids were received, with the low
bid for Package A submitted by Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co. of
Valleypark, MO, in the amount of $117,749.28 and the low bid for
Package C submitted by Border States Industries, Inc., of Cedar Rapids,
IA, in the amount of $29,925.44.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$147,674.72 total for
both bid packages.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract for Package
A to Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co. of Valleypark, MO, in the amount
of $117,749.28 and awarding contract for Package C to Border States
Industries, Inc., of Cedar Rapids, IA, in the amount of $29,925.44.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to for Package A to
Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co. of Valleypark, MO, in the amount of
$117,749.28 and awarding contract for Package C to Border States
Industries, Inc., of Cedar Rapids, IA, in the amount of $29,925.44..

RESOLUTION 17-
RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONTRACTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bids for the Supply of Materials for the Alice's Road Gas
Main Relocation Project, described in the specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on
November 20, 2017, be and are hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive,
responsible bids received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co. of Valleypark, MO
Amount of bid: $117,749.28*
Portion of project: All Costs for Bid Package Alternate A (as modified)
Contractor: Border States Industries, Inc., of Cedar Rapids, IA
Amount of bid: $29,925.44**
Portion of project: All Costs for Bid Package Alternate C (as modified)
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute contracts with the
contractors for the Supply of Materials for the Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project, such
contracts not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council.

*With allowance for G10 gaskets.
**Allowing for deletion of Bid Item No. 3.16 for compression lugs for use with #12 AWG cable,
the allowance of no decals on the test stations, and the waiver of the addendum
acknowledgement.
