AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of NE Gracewood Drive/NE Cardinal Lane from 195 NE
Gracewood Drive east and south to 465 NE Cardinal Lane between the
hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Resident George Springer requests the temporary
closing of the street in front of his residence to allow for the delivery and
installation by crane of a hot tub. Due to the installation on an upper
deck at the rear of his residence, the crane must be located in the street.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: All relevant departments approve of the application.
Due to the unusual layout of NE Gracewood Drive/NE Cardinal Lane
and the lack of any other street outlets, City staff has requested that Mr.
Springer erect “road closed ahead” signage and barricades at both the NE
Gracewood/N Warrior and NE Bowman/NE Cardinal intersections.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NE GRACEWOOD DRIVE/NE
CARDINAL LANE FROM 195 NE GRACEWOOD DRIVE EAST AND SOUTH TO
465 NE CARDINAL LANE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10:00 A.M. AND 2:00 P.M.
ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2017
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, George Springer, 485 NE Cardinal Lane, request the temporary closing of NE
Gracewood Drive/NE Cardinal Lane from 195 NE Gracewood Drive east and south to 465 NE
Cardinal Lane between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017, for
the purpose of the delivery and installation by crane of a hot tub on the rear upper deck of his
residence; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Code of Iowa §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be
temporarily closed by resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
29th day of November, 2017, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of NE Gracewood
Drive/NE Cardinal Lane from 195 NE Gracewood Drive east and south to 465 NE Cardinal Lane
between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017.
