HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-12-11-E01B Alice's Rd Gas Main Relocation, Construction_Award ContractAGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: December 11, 2017 AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution awarding contract [Alice’s Road Gas Main Relocation Construction Project] FORMAT:Resolution SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall on December 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Two (2) apparent bids were received, with the low bid submitted by InfraSource Construction of Kansas City, MO, in the amount of $484,882.00. Along with the bid, Infrasource included 3 exceptions; City staff and the City Engineer discussed the exceptions with the bidder, who has agreed to withdraw the exceptions. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$484,882.00 COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to InfraSource Construction of Kansas City, MO, in the amount of $484,882.00. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to InfraSource Construction of Kansas City, MO, in the amount of $484,882.00. ATTACHMENTS: I. Proposed resolution II. Bid tabulation PREPARED BY: Becky Schuett REVIEWED BY: E1B RESOLUTION 17- RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE ALICE'S ROAD GAS MAIN RELOCATION PROJECT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA: Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the Alice's Road Gas Main Relocation Project, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on December 11, 2017, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows: Contractor: InfraSource Construction of Kansas City, MO Amount of bid: $484,882.00 Portion of project: All construction work Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council.
