Proposed Resolution PREPARED BY: Tim Moerman REVIEWED BY: PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION – NAME OF PUBLICATION: DATE OF PUBLICATION: THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 16- APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF POLICY FOR PUBLIC USE OF THE WAUKEE PUBLIC SAFETY AND WAUKEE PUBLIC WORKS FACILITIES FOR POLITICAL EVENTS IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal Organization; AND, WHEREAS, the City has received requests to use the Public Safety Building for political events; AND, WHEREAS, it is deemed that the Public Safety Building and the Public Works Building are centers of critical and often 24-hour operations, the departments conduct activities in and around the buildings with various levels of risk, and the departments store and use large pieces of equipment in and around the buildings; AND, WHEREAS, additional staff hours are required for hosting political events; AND, WHEREAS, the City Attorney recommends that the Waukee City Council establish a policy related to public use of the Public Safety and Public Works Buildings for political events. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 16th day of February, 2016, that it hereby approves policy which dictates that the Waukee Public Safety Building and the Public Works Building are not to be used to host political events. ____________________________ William F.
