AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution awarding contract [Waukee
Bluestem Lift Station #14 Improvement Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall on
February 29, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. One apparent bid was received,
submitted by J&K Contracting of Ames, IA, in the amount of
$948,000.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends tabling awarding the contract
until the March 14, 2016, City Council special meeting to allow time for
staff and engineer review.
RECOMMENDATION: Table approval of the resolution until the March 14, 2016, special City
Council meeting

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE BLUESTEM LIFT STATION #14
IMPROVEMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Bluestem Lift Station #14 Improvements, described in the plans and
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on March 7, 2016, be and is hereby accepted,
the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows:

Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
