AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving temporary parking
along certain sections of SE Olson Drive and SE Frontier Avenue
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18,
2016
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On January 4, 2016, at the request of the owners of
Sports Plex West, the Waukee City Council approved temporary parking
along certain sections of SE Olson Drive and SE Frontier Avenue to
accommodate attendees of sports tournaments at Sports Plex West on
various weekend dates in early 2016.
One of the weekends approved for temporary parking was March 19-20,
2016. The owners of Sports Plex West have requested permission to also
allow temporary parking on Friday, March 18 of that weekend.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff has considered the request for the additional
date and recommends approval.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 16-
APPROVING TEMPORARY PARKING ALONG CERTAIN SECTIONS OF SE OLSON
DRIVE AND SE FRONTIER AVENUE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 A.M. AND
10:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2016
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Sports Plex West will host sports tournaments at their facility on various weekend dates
in early 2016; AND,
WHEREAS, on January 4, 2016, at the request of the owners of Sports Plex West, the Waukee City
Council approved temporary parking along certain sections of SE Olson Drive and SE Frontier Avenue
to accommodate attendees of those sports tournaments (Resolution #16-014); AND,
WHEREAS, the owners of Sports Plex West request permission to temporarily allow parking along
specific public streets for the additional date of March 18, 2016; AND,
WHEREAS, City staff recommends approval of the temporary parking request.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 7th day
of March, 2016, that it hereby approves temporary parking along the north side of SE Olson Drive
from SE Crabapple Drive east to approximately 370 feet west of SE Alice’s Road, and along the west
and south sides of SE Frontier Avenue from SE Olson Drive south and east to approximately 130 feet
west of SE Alice’s Road, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on March 18, 2016.
