The job descriptions for Community Center Site Supervisor (Parks and Rec), Recreation Supervisor (Parks and Rec), Roadway Maintenance Worker (Public Works), and Administrative Coordinator (Public Works) are submitted as an accurate description of the current essential functions of the positions. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The Parks and Recreation Director, Public Works Director, and Human Resource Director recommend the approval of the job descriptions. Lyon Rick Peterson   Community Center Site Supervisor Page 1 Council Approved ________________________ City of Waukee JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Community Center Site Supervisor Reports to: Recreation Supervisor Dept/Div: Parks & Recreation Direct Reports: None Union Status: Non-Represented – As needed FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: Per Rental JOB PURPOSE: The Community Center Site Supervisor is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the security of the Waukee Community Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) 1. Responsible for meeting with renters at the Community Center to unlock doors, familiarize the renters with the Center, and to explain the responsibilities the renters have while using the Center. 2. Communicates with Supervisor or designee regarding scheduled Community Center events. 3. Provides renters with check-list they must complete before leaving the Community Center. 4. Maintains constant availability during rental periods by providing renters with City cell phone number in case of questions or emergencies. 5. Returns to Community Center after rental period has ended to inspect the Center, to note discrepancies and to ensure all doors are locked properly. 6. Assists renters with set-up and proper storage of Audio/Video equipment. 7. Responsible for light clearing and salting the pathways to the Community Center, and notify Supervisor if more extensive clearing is needed. 8. Maintains inventory of cleaning solutions and equipment, and notifies direct supervisor if additional products are needed. 9. Cleans and prepares Community Center for upcoming rental in the event a previous renter did not complete the duties listed on the check-list. 10. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. SUCCESS FACTORS: 1. Must possess good organizational and time management skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 15 pounds, occasionally. 2. Able to lift, carry, push and pull Community Center cleaning equipment. 3. Able to push, pull, dismantle and store Community Center tables and chairs. 4. Position requires travel within the City which imposes common travel hazards. 2. Standard work hours will vary between the hours of 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, Sunday-Saturday. 3. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) 1. Arranges, attends, and supervises department’s recreational programs, including youth and adult sports, programs, activities, and other special events. 2. Leads and directs staff and volunteers through selection, orientation, training, performance management and discipline according to standard operating procedures and City policy. 3. Works closely with representatives in the community in developing and implementing recreational opportunities. 4. Conducts program evaluations to determine feasibility, participation level, and quality of each program and event. 5. Attends and participates in various City and civic meetings; attends seminars, workshops, and clinics to provide for professional development. 6. Conducts regular checks of all activities at program sites to monitor staff and assist with problems. 7. Prepares and distributes departmental press releases, newsletters, and informational brochures. 8. Prepares and submits required reports, including monthly and annual activity reports, budget reviews, and monthly expenditures. 9. Must possess a valid Iowa Driver’s License within 30 days and meet the requirements of the City’s motor vehicle policy. 4. Current CPR and First Aid certifications. 5. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Climate controlled office with hazards typical to that environment. 2. Position requires outdoor work where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. 3. Position requires travel within and outside of the City which imposes common travel hazards. 4. Standard work hours must be flexible and include evenings and weekends and will be greater than 40 hours per week for a large percentage of the year. 5. To successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position, employee must maintain standard work hours within Waukee Public Works. 6. The employee in this position is required to reside within a 30 minute radius of the City limits due to the need to respond to emergency calls in a timely manner to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Waukee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) 1. Assists in maintenance and repair of grass areas around streets and other areas including: mowing, trimming and cutting of brush. 2. Performs routine maintenance on equipment. 3. Keeps equipment, shop and storage areas clean and well-maintained. 4. Reports any damaged or broken safety or mechanical equipment or vandalism to the appropriate supervisor. 5. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. SUCCESS FACTORS: 1. Display willingness to listen and learn. 2. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. 2. Able to spend the majority of work related time outdoors. 3. Able to maneuver in undeveloped areas on uneven surfaces for up to one mile in various types of weather. 4. Able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic devices and handwritten) in English with other employees, vendors and the community. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Position requires outdoor work where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. 2. During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for entire scheduled work day. 3. During different job duties the noise inside or outside can become very loud 4. May be exposed daily to odors, dusts and gasses that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed. 5. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) 1. Assists administrating, tracking, record keeping and generating reports on Capital Improvement Projects and maintains records of past projects. 2. Prepares correspondence, minutes, reports, specifications, contracts, notices, resolutions and other related materials as requested. 3. Prepares budget worksheets and reports for annual budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll for processing. 4. Assists in the preparation of City Council agenda items. 5. Coordinates and organizes special events. 6. Schedules quarterly random and post-accident drug testing in accordance to the Iowa Pipeline requirements. 7. Maintains and updates security system for the building. 8. Coordinates with Information Technology provider on all IT issues assisting in coordinating system upgrades with software providers. 9. Maintains the CFA System for fleet maintenance including administrator responsibilities, date entry, reporting and billing. 10.
