AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving purchase of wetland
credits related to Douglas Parkway Extension Project
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: As a part of the design of the Douglas Parkway
Extension Project, the City was required to prepare a wetland delineation
study. From that study, it was determined that approximately 0.22 acres
of existing wetlands would be disturbed as a part of the construction
project.
In order to mitigate the loss of the existing wetland, the City has been
given approval by the US Army Corp of Engineers to purchase 0.34
acres of wetland credits within the Voas Wetland Mitigation Bank
located within Dallas County.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $12,200.00

RESOLUTION 16-
APPROVING PURCHASE OF WETLAND CREDITS RELATED TO DOUGLAS
PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, as part of the planning of the Douglas Parkway Extension Project, it was
determined that 0.22 acre of wetland would be disturbed; AND,
WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has authorized the City of Waukee to purchase
0.34 acres of emergent wetland credit from the Voas Wetland Mitigation Bank, Dallas County,
Iowa to offset the unavoidable loss of 0.22 acre of existing wetland associated with the
construction of the Douglas Parkway Extension Project.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
21st day of March 2016 that it hereby approves the purchase of 0.34 acres of emergent wetland
credit from the Voas Wetland Mitigation Bank related to the Douglas Parkway Extension
Project.
