SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On 02/16/2016, the Waukee City Council held the
public hearing and approved project plans and specifications for the 3rd
Street Water Tower Refurbishment Project.
The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall on March 5, 2016,
at 2:00 p.m. Four apparent bids were received, with the low bid
submitted by JR Stelzer of Lincoln, NE, in the amount of $470,200.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $470,200.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to JR Stelzer
of Lincoln, NE, in the amount of $470,200.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to JR Stelzer of Lincoln,
NE, in the amount of $470,200.00.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE 3RD STREET WATER TOWER
REFURBISHMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the 3rd Street Water Tower Refurbishment, described in the plans and
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on February 16, 2016, be and is hereby
accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as
follows:

$470,200.00
Portion of project:
All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
