AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving contract, bond [NE
Douglas Parkway Extension From NE Alices Road West]
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The NE Douglas Parkway Extension is a joint public
improvement project between the Cities of Waukee and Clive, with
Waukee acting as lead agency. The City of Clive approved awarding
contract at their March 24, 2016, regular meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $889,280.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends approving contract and bond
from Hawkeye Paving Corporation of Bettendorf, IA, in the amount of
$889,280.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION APPROVING CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
AND BOND FOR THE NE DOUGLAS PARKWAY
EXTENSION FROM NE ALICES ROAD WEST 560 FEET
WHEREAS, the City has entered an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of
Clive, Iowa to provide for the joint exercise of their respective powers in connection with the
construction of certain roadway improvements at the intersection of Douglas Parkway and
Alice’s Road; and
WHEREAS, the Cities agreed that the City of Waukee will not enter into a construction
contract until the bids for the improvements have been considered and a bid accepted by the
respective city councils for the City of Clive and the City of Waukee; and
WHEREAS, on March 24, 2016, the city council for the City of Clive accepted the
following bid for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the NE
Douglas Parkway Extension From NE Alices Road West 560 Feet, described in the plans and
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on March 14, 2016, as the lowest responsive,
responsible bid received for such work, as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
That the construction contract and bond executed and insurance coverage for the
construction of certain public improvements described in general as the NE Douglas Parkway
Extension From NE Alices Road West 560 Feet, and as described in detail in the plans and
specifications heretofore approved, and which have been signed by the Mayor and Clerk on
behalf of the City be and the same are hereby approved as follows:
