CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION
MEETING DATE: April 11, 2016
AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a motion setting May 2, 2016, as the date of
public hearing on the annexation of consenting properties by the City of
Waukee, Iowa, with consideration of the annexation taking place
immediately thereafter (Copeland Property)
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City has received a voluntary petition for
annexation for approximately 160 acres of land (including adjacent right
of way) that is contiguous to the existing City limits. The property is
owned by J Harry and Estella L Copeland Trust and is located at the
southwest corner of 10th Street and Hickman Road. City Staff held a
consultation meeting on March 21, 2016 with the Dallas County Board
of Supervisors and Walnut Township Board of Trustees. The next
requirement in the annexation process is for the City to set a date for a
public hearing.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of setting the public
hearing date for May 2, 2016
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
