AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving plans, specifications,
form of contract and estimate of cost [98th Street/Waco Place Improvement
Project]
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Developers have completed Waco/98th Street to the
Water Tower driveway on the south side of the railroad tracks and to the north
side of the tracks. It is the responsibility of the City of Waukee and West Des
Moines to complete the remaining section. The Project includes paving
Waco/98th Street from the water tower driveway to just north of the railroad
crossing including the construction of approximately 350 linear feet of 16-
inch water main, boring of 160 linear feet of steel casing pipe under the
railroad, storm sewer, storm intakes, culvert removal, sidewalk, bike trail, and
erosion control.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: West Des Moines will be the lead agency for the Project and
is publishing notice and holding the public hearing on the plans and
specifications. A copy of the plans and specification are on file with the
Waukee City Clerk.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION ADOPTING PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, FORM
OF CONTRACT AND ESTIMATE OF COST FOR THE 98TH
STREET/WACO PLACE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City has entered an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City
of West Des Moines, Iowa to provide for the joint exercise of their respective powers in
connection with the construction of certain roadway improvements known as the 98th
Street/Waco Place Improvement Project, with the City of West Des Moines acting in capacity as
lead agency for the project; and
WHEREAS, on the 13th day of May, 2016, plans, specifications, form of contract and
estimate of cost were filed with the Clerk of the City of Waukee for the construction of the 98th
Street/Waco Place Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, notice of hearing on plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of
cost for the public improvements was published by the City of West Des Moines as required by
law:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost are hereby
approved as the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for the public
improvements, as described in the preamble of this Resolution.
