AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of 5-day Class B Beer License (BB) (Includes
Wine Coolers) with Outdoor Service privilege beginning June 18, 2016,
for Iowa Beer Bus, LLC, d/b/a Iowa Beer Bus [event located at 50 SE
Laurel Street]
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On 05/02/2016, the Waukee City Council approved
an extended outdoor service area for Mickey’s Irish Pub for the BACooN
Bike Ride post-event party. Since that approval, the owners of Mickey’s
Irish Pub have contracted with the Iowa Beer Bus to serve liquor in the
parking lot adjacent to Mickey’s. State law says that there cannot be
more than one liquor license for the same location at the same time. As a
result, Mickey’s Irish Pub has withdrawn their extended outdoor service
area and Iowa Beer Bus has applied for a 5-day beer license to service
the parking lot area.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Police, Fire, and Development Services Departments
have reviewed the application and find no reason to deny the permit at
this time.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the application.
