AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of an ordinance to amend Chapter 502, Waukee
Municipal Code, Traffic Regulations of the City of Waukee, Iowa, by adding
to Section 502, Parking Regulations, certain public streets as specified
[introduction; first readings]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: A Public Input meeting was held on December 15, 2015
for the possibility of closing Northview Drive and No Parking along Bel Aire
Drive. As a result of that meeting staff recommended not closing Northview
and prohibiting parking on Bel Aire Dr. from Warrior Lane to lst Street during
the school year lam to 5pm. Another Public Input meeting was held June 22nd
regarding no parking on Bel Aire Dr. After receiving comment, staff is
recommending no parking on both sides of Bel Aire Dr. 195 feet west of
Warrior Lane during the school year from lam to 5pm.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 502, WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
TRAFFIC REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA, BY ADDING TO
SECTION 502 "PARKING REGULATIONS," A CERTAIN PUBLIC STREET AS
SPECIFIED BELOW
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined that a certain public street should be added
to the no parking ordinances.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1. Chapter 502, Waukee Municipal Code, Traffic Regulations, Section 502.8, is
hereby amended to add subsection I as follows:
§502.8 Other parking prohibitions on east -west streets:
I. Bel -Aire Drive from its intersection with Warrior Lane to a point 195 feet
to the west from 7 AM to 5 PM Monday -Friday for the period
commencing with the first to the last day of each school year as
established by the Waukee Community School District calendar posted on
the District website.
Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage, approval
and publication as provided by law.
