RESOLUTION 16-
RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF SHANE BLANCHARD WHILE
COUNCIL MEMBER FOR THE CITY OF WAUKEE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, Shane Blanchard served as a Waukee City Council Member from January 1, 2010 to
June 1, 2016; AND,
WHEREAS, while serving on the City Council, Shane was the council liaison to Board of
Adjustment, Board of Appeals, Library Board of Trustees, Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce,
Waukee Community School District, Dallas County and Polk County Emergency Management, as
well as several ad hoc committees; AND,
WHEREAS, Shane also served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2012; AND,
WHEREAS, Shane served on the council during a period of tremendous growth and progress in
Waukee, including a 30% population increase, record-breaking building permit and valuation
statistics, and the opening of Grand Prairie Parkway and the Kettlestone development corridor;
AND,
WHEREAS, Shane’s willingness to serve his community on the Waukee City Council and his
commitment to the betterment of Waukee for all its residents is an outstanding example of public
service.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 15th
day of August, 2016, that it hereby approves the expression of appreciation and thanks to Shane
Blanchard for his service on the Waukee City Council.
