AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving a controlled burn by the
Waukee Fire Department on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 6:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. for an unoccupied residence addressed as 3241 Ashworth Road,
with an alternate controlled burn date of Saturday, September 17, 2016
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: State DNR requires City Council approval to conduct
controlled/training fires. This house is located on the north side of Ashworth
Rd, just west of GPP. The land owner, Kurt Brewer has provided appropriate
documentation, including asbestos testing/removal reports, written permission
to burn and verification there is no insurance on the structure. The plan is to
start the burn at 6:00AM.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: No fiscal impact.

RESOLUTION 16-
APPROVING A CONTROLLED BURN BY THE WAUKEE FIRE DEPARTMENT ON
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2016, FROM 6:00 A.M. TO 11:00 A.M. FOR AN
UNOCCUPIED RESIDENCE ADDRESSED AS 3241 ASHWORTH ROAD, WITH AN
ALTERNATE CONTROLLED BURN DATE OF SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2016
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Fire Department intends to conduct a controlled burn of an unoccupied
residence addressed as 3241 Ashworth Road, Waukee, Iowa, at the request of the property
owner; AND,
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources requires City Council approval to
conduct a controlled burn/training fire; AND,
WHEREAS, the property owner has provided the Waukee Fire Department with documentation
of asbestos testing and removal reports, written permission to conduct the controlled burn, and
verification that there is no insurance on the subject structure.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
6th day of September, 2016, that it hereby approves a controlled burn by the Waukee Fire
Department on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for an unoccupied
residence addressed as 3241 Ashworth Road, with an alternate controlled burn date of Saturday,
September 17, 2016
