AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution postponing bid deadline and
public hearing for the SE Westown Parkway Extension and Grand Prairie
Parkway Greenbelt Weirs Project
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: City staff is working on development agreements
related to the SE Westown Parkway Extension and Grand Prairie
Parkway Greenbelt Weirs Project and recommends the project be
delayed indefinitely with the expectation that it will reconsidered by the
council in the near future.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Postpone moving forward with the project at this time.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION POSTPONING BID DEADLINE AND PUBLIC
HEARING FOR THE SE WESTOWN PKWY EXTENSION &
GPP GREENBELT WEIRS SE PARKVIEW CROSSING DR. TO
GRAND PRAIRIE PKWY. PROJECT
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2016, the Council adopted a “Resolution ordering
construction of the SE Westown Pkwy. extension & GPP greenbelt weirs SE Parkview Crossing
Dr. to Grand Prairie Pkwy” and fixed a date for hearing thereon and taking of bids therefor; and
WHEREAS, the Project Engineer has recommended that the deadline for submission of
bids be postponed indefinitely pending completion of the acquisition of certain property required
for the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the September 13, 2016 deadline for receiving bids is postponed
indefinitely.
Section 2. That the September 19, 2016 public hearing on the plans, specifications,
form of contract and estimate of costs for the project is also postponed.
Section 3. That the Project Engineer is instructed to issue an addendum to all plan
holders regarding the postponement and advising them not to submit bids.
Section 4. That City staff is instructed to return any bids received unopened to the
bidder.
Section 5. The Council will consider a new resolution ordering construction and
fixing a date for hearing thereon and taking of bids therefor prior to the posting of a new Notice
to Bidders and the publication of a new Notice of Public Hearing.
