AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain portions of public streets for the Waukee Community
School District Homecoming Parade, with said street closing between the
hours of 5:30 p.m. and approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September
22, 2016
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On 09/06/2016, the Waukee City Council
approved a temporary street closing in order to accommodate the
Waukee High School homecoming parade. However, the wrong parade
route was identified in that resolution. The proposed resolution corrects
the parade route.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 16-
APPROVAL OF THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS FOR THE WAUKEE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HOMECOMING
PARADE, WITH SAID STREET CLOSING BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 5:30 P.M. AND
APPROXIMATELY 7:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2016
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee High School will have its 2016 homecoming football game on the evening of
Friday, September 23; AND,
WHEREAS, as part of the homecoming festivities, the Waukee High School student council has
scheduled a parade to be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, and requests that certain streets be
closed temporarily for the parade route; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 12th
day of September, 2016, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain portions of streets
from the Vince Meyer Learning Center parking lot west on Locust to Sixth Street, north on Sixth Street
to Ashworth Drive, east on Ashworth Drive to Fourth Street, south on Fourth Street to Northview
Drive; east on Northview Drive to Warrior Lane, south on Warrior Lane to the Waukee Middle School
parking lot for the Waukee Community School District Homecoming Parade, with said street closing
between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016.
