HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-09-19-H01 Sale of Property to Hubbell Realty - PH AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: September 19, 2016 AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a public hearing to dispose of real property by sale to Hubbell Realty Company FORMAT: Public Hearing SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On August 15, 2016, the City Council approved a Development Agreement with Hubbell Realty regarding improvements to Westown Parkway associated with the platting of Glynn Village Plat 10. As a part of the Development Agreement, there was an offer to purchase the approximately 10.11 acres of property currently owned by the City located south of Westown Parkway and west of Stone Prairie that was recently acquired from the School District. The offer to purchase was in the amount of $340,000 or approximately $34,000 per acre. It would be Hubbell’s intent to develop the property with residential development. Pursuant to Iowa Code, the City is required to publish public notice of an offer to purchase real estate and to hold a Public Hearing before the City Council before any action is taken. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of holding the public hearing.
