PROCLAMATION
IN RECOGNITION OF RANDY JENSEN FOR HIS WORK ON
THE RACCOON RIVER VALLEY TRAILHEAD PUBLIC ART
PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, several years ago, a dedicated group of Raccoon River Valley Trail users,
art lovers, and Waukee residents approached the City with an idea for a public art
installation at the Waukee trailhead –the eastern gateway to the Raccoon River Valley
Trail system; AND,
WHEREAS, in order to make their vision a reality, and with the full support and
cooperation of the Waukee City Council, the public art group took the lead in raising
funds toward the cost of the design and installation of “Waukee Railroad Pergola: In
the Shadow of the Rails”; AND,
WHEREAS, Randy Jensen played an essential role in project fundraising – writing,
executing, and submitting dozens of grant applications, successfully resulting in
approximately $500,000 of grant funds awarded for the project; AND,
WHEREAS, due in no small part to Randy’s focus, dedication and effort, the public
art project promises to make the Waukee trailhead a true destination, providing a warm
welcome and a beautiful history lesson for resident and visitor alike.
NOW THEREFORE, I, William F. Peard, Mayor of Waukee, do hereby recognize
and thank Randy Jensen for his long hours and hard work in order to make a reality the
Raccoon River Valley Trailhead Public Art Project – “Waukee Railroad Pergola: In the
Shadow of the Rails.”
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have
hereunto subscribed my name and caused the
Great Seal of the City of Waukee to be affixed this
October 3, 2016.
