Area Trunk Sewer Extension Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on November 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. Six (6) apparent bids were received,
with the low bid submitted by Pohlmeier Construction of Bondurant, IA,
in the amount of $871,738.00 (base bid and alternate).
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $871,738.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Pohlmeier
Construction of Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $871,738.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to Pohlmeier Construction
of Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $871,738.00.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE SOUTHWEST AREA TRUNK SEWER
EXTENSION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Southwest Area Trunk Sewer Extension, described in the plans and
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on November 7, 2016, be and is hereby
accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as
follows:

Portion of project:
All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.

SOUTHWEST AREA TRUNK SEWER EXTENSION
RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD CONTRACT
The City of Waukee received bids until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 for
the Southwest Area Trunk Sewer Extension project. A total of six bids were received as
follows:

The apparent low bid was submitted by Pohlmeier Construction, Inc. of Bondurant, Iowa
in the amount of $759,011.00 for the base bid and $112,727.00 for the alternate bid.
The alternate Bid is for 960 lf of 12” of sanitary sewer to serve future development to the
northwest.
Our recommendation is to award the contract for both the base bid and alternate bid to
Pohlmeier Construction, Inc. in the amount of $871,738.00.
