AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of SE University Avenue from SE Ashworth Drive/SE L.A.
Grant Parkway west to SE Waddell Way on Saturday, May 6, 2017,
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of the My
Angel Foundation 5K event
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is to allow safer
street crossings for runners and walkers participating in the My Angel
Foundation 5K event on 05/06/2017.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 16-
APPROVAL OF THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SE UNIVERSITY AVENUE FROM
SE ASHWORTH DRIVE/SE L.A. GRANT PARKWAY WEST TO SE WADDELL WAY
ON SATURDAY, MAY 6, 2017, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 A.M. AND 10:00 A.M.
FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE MY ANGEL FOUNDATION 5K EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, the My Angel Foundation requests the temporary closing of SE University Avenue
from SE Ashworth Drive/SE L.A. Grant Parkway west to SE Waddell Way on Saturday, May 6,
2017, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of the My Angel
Foundation 5K event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Waukee City Council in session this 7th day
of November, 2016, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of SE University Avenue from
SE Ashworth Drive/SE L.A. Grant Parkway west to SE Waddell Way on Saturday, May 6, 2017,
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of the My Angel Foundation 5K
event.
