AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution declaring intent for non-
renewal of Lease Agreement [236 W. Hickman Rd.]
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: City staff conducted an analysis of future staffing and
space needs for the organization. It was determined that additional space
beyond City Hall will be needed in order to house future staff members.
The City currently leases space adjacent to City Hall to the Waukee Area
Chamber of Commerce; that lease expires November 30, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends that the City Council approve a
resolution notifying the Chamber of Commerce that the City does not
intent to renew the current lease when it expires.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 16-
DECLARING INTENT FOR NON-RENEWAL OF LEASE AGREEMENT
[236 W. HICKMAN RD.]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas
County; AND,
WHEREAS, the current lease agreement between the City of Waukee and the Waukee
Area Chamber of Commerce for the space addressed as 236 W. Hickman Road will
expire November 30, 2017; AND,
WHEREAS, a staffing analysis for Waukee City Hall indicates the need for future
additional office space; AND,
WHEREAS, having reviewed ways to address City Hall office space issues, the City
believes the most efficient and economical solution is through the use of the space
currently leased by the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 7th day of November, 2016, that it hereby declares intent for non-renewal of
the lease agreement, effective November 30, 2017, between the City of Waukee and the
Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce for the space addressed as 236 W. Hickman Road.
