AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 2 to Joiner Construction Co.
Inc. for the Fox Creek Park Project in the amount of $39,662.75.
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Change Order No. 2 to Joiner Construction Co. Inc. is a
result of the additional common excavation that was going to be needed as a
result of Change Order #1. At the July 18th City Council meeting the City
Council approved Change Order #1 in which the contract amount was
decreased ($46,068.00) due to no longer needing to truck additional material
to the site. At that time, staff presented to the City Council that we would
have a second change order for additional excavation that would be required
to move the existing dirt around the site. An as built survey was completed by
Bishop Engineering and calculations were made in order to determine the cost
of such work. #2-#10 in the Change Order description is a direct result of
this. The seeding changes are a result of having to establish ground cover per
storm water regulations, prior to the ideal time to plant wild flowers and
prairie grass. #15-#18 in the Change Order description is a result of additional
work to the overland flowage easement across the north boundary of the park
that backs up to residential yards. The quantities completed to date have been
reviewed and agreed upon by the contractor, City of Waukee Staff, and Genus
Landscape Architects.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Change Order No. 2 will increase
the total project cost by $39,662.75 bringing the Contract Total including this
change order to $697,386.85. The original contract bid with Joiner
Construction Co. Inc. was $703,792.10.
