AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the establishment of
a committee to be known as the City of Waukee 2017 Comprehensive
Plan Committee
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The purpose of this committee is to update the
City’s Comprehensive Plan for development, including the
Comprehensive Road Plan, as part of the City of Waukee FY2016-2017
Strategic Plan.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The proposed committee shall remain in existence until
the project is complete or until a simple majority of the Council
determines the Committee is no longer needed.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 16-
APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMMITTEE TO BE KNOWN AS THE
CITY OF WAUKEE 2017 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMITTEE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, one of the top priority goals set by the Waukee City Council as part of the City of
Waukee FY2016-2017 Strategic Plan (Resolution #16-288) is an update of the City’s
Comprehensive Plan for development, including the Comprehensive Road Plan; AND,
WHEREAS, the 2017 Comprehensive Plan Committee (the “Committee”) shall be established
in order to fulfill this need; AND,
WHEREAS, the Committee shall remain in existence until such time as the Comprehensive Plan
is completed and adopted by the City Council and/or a simple majority of the Council determine
that the Committee is no longer needed; AND
WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint the Committee members, which shall consist of up to
fifteen (15) members; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee Development Services Director and/or his designee(s) shall
attend meetings of the Committee and shall act in the capacity of support staff for the committee;
AND,
WHEREAS, the Committee shall meet as necessary and shall comply with all provisions of
Code of Iowa Chapter 21, Official Meetings Open to Public (Open Meetings) and Chapter 22,
Examination of Public Records (Open Records);
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa on
this the 21st day of November, 2016, that it hereby approves the establishment of a committee to
be known as the City of Waukee 2017 Comprehensive Plan Committee.
