AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of an ordinance to amend Chapter 65, Stop or Yield
Required, City of Waukee, Iowa by amending Section 65.03, Four-Way Stop
Intersections; by repealing Section 65.04, Five-Way Stop Intersections; and
by amending Section 65.05, School Stops as specified [introduction; first,
second, third (final) readings]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The amended Ordinance Chapter 65 eliminates the 5-way
stop intersection (Ashworth Dr., Northview Dr. and Bel Aire Dr.) to accommodate the newly built
roundabout, the removal of the four way stop at Warrior Ln and Windfield Pkwy and the removal of a
school stop zone on Warrior Ln adjacent to Waukee Middle School.

RECOMMENDATION: Introduce the ordinance, approve the first reading in title only, waive the

ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 65, STOP OR YIELD REQUIRED, CITY OF
WAUKEE, IOWA BY AMENDING SECTION 65.03, FOUR-WAY STOP
INTERSECTIONS; BY REPEALING SECTION 65.04, FIVE-WAY STOP
INTERSECTIONS; AND BY AMENDING SECTION 65.05, SCHOOL STOPS AS
SPECIFIED BELOW
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined that certain public street intersections
should be added to or eliminated from the stop or yield regulations.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1: Waukee Municipal Code Chapter 65, Stop or Yield Required, should be and
the same is hereby amended by repealing the following sections:
65.03 FOUR-WAY STOP INTERSECTIONS
Repeal section 10.:
10. Warrior Lane and Windfield Parkway/SE Windfield Parkway.
65.04 FIVE-WAY STOP INTERSECTIONS
Repeal section 1.:
1.Warrior Lane and Ashworth Drive and Northview Drive
65.05 SCHOOL STOPS
Repeal section 1.:
1.Between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at Warrior Lane and Bel Aire Drive,
controlling traffic on Warrior Lane.
Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
