SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The quote is for replacing pedestrian sidewalk ramps
with ADA accessible sidewalk ramps at 4 intersections along SE University Avenue.
Quotes were received on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with one quote received from MNM
Concrete Specialists. The amount of the base quotation was $69,825.00, alternate quotation 1 was
$11,661.00 and alternate quotation 2 was $13,873.00. The engineer’s estimates for the project
were $77,534.00 for the base quotation, $11,128.00 for alternate quotation 1 and $12,362 for
alternate quotation 2.
Based on review of the quotes received and the project budget, Veenstra & Kimm, Inc.
recommends award of the base quotation and alternate quotation 2 for a total amount of
$83,698.00 to MNM Concrete Specialists. The total project budget is $100,000.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $83,698.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommend approval of the resolution awarding
the base quotation and alternate quotation 2 to MNM Concrete Specialists of Des Moines, IA
[2021/2022 ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project].
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as 2021/2022
ADA Sidewalk Improvements Project and described in the Request for Quotes that was provided
to vendors be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsible quote received for
such work, as follows:
Contractor: MNM Concrete Specialists of Des Moines, IA
Amount of quote: $83,698.00
PASSED AND APPROVED this 20th day of September, 2021.
