HomeMy WebLinkAboutGolf - Golf Course Maintenance Worker SeasonalGolf Course Maintenance Worker Page 1 Council Approval 01-18-16 Revised 03-09-16/Revised 01-24-17 Revised: 01-17-18 Revised 10-2021 City of Waukee JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Golf Course Maintenance Worker Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent Dept/Div: Parks & Recreation/Golf Direct Reports: None Pay Grade: Seasonal FLSA Status: Hourly/Exempt-Seasonal Recreation JOB PURPOSE: The Golf Course Maintenance Worker assists in the maintenance and operation of the Sugar Creek Golf Course grounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) 1. Mows grass and trims tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes, greens and around the golf course. 2. Operate mowing equipment, hand trimmers, golf cart, hand rakes, shovels and all equipment necessary to complete the job. 3. Assists with repairs and maintenance of the irrigation system. 4. Maintains all power equipment including cleaning equipment after each day of use and monitoring power equipment maintenance. 5. Assist in general golf course maintenance such as: changing cup positions, moving tee blocks, hand watering and debris removal (sticks and leaves). 6. Clean and wash golf carts. 7. Empties trash bins, sorts recycling and takes to designated location for pick-up. 8. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. SUCCESS FACTORS: 1. Attentive to City’s standards for customer service, accuracy, quality, efficiency and all City policies and procedures ensuring that all work meets these standards. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School diploma or GED preferred. 2. Familiarity with the rules of golf and golf course etiquette. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Required to lift to shoulder height and carry up to 50 pounds. 2. Able to climb in and out of golf carts and other modes of transportation. 3. Able to maneuver along walkways, trails and undeveloped areas. 4. Able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic devices and handwritten) in English with other employees, vendors and the community. Position requires outdoor work where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. 2. During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for entire scheduled work day. 3. Standard work hours will be 7 days per week, typically between 5:30am and dusk. 4. To successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position, employee must maintain standard work hours at Waukee Sugar Creek Golf Course. 5. There is no residency requirement for this position.
