CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION
MEETING DATE: November 15, 2021
AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a motion setting December 6, 2021, as the date
of public hearing on an ordinance to amend Chapter 6, City Elections, by
repealing Section 6.07, Voting Precincts, and enacting new election precincts
as specified
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: After a federal decennial Census, cities are required to
review its voting precinct boundaries and make adjustments as necessary in
order to comply with current laws. The City is required to take action within
60 days of approval of new legislative districts by the State of Iowa.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff is recommending a public hearing date be set for
December 6, 2021 to discuss the new election precincts within the City.
RECOMMENDATION: Set the Public Hearing Date.
