AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving Professional Consulting
Services Amendment No. 2 with Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc. [NW
Douglas Parkway Culvert and Pond Improvement]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The current contract amount with Calhoun-Burns &
Associates, Inc. for this project is $201,670.00. Including amendment 2, the total contract is proposed
to be $243,670.00 which is 7.3% of the total project budget of $3.35M.
The City of Waukee has entered into a contract with Elder Corporation to begin the project.
Amendment No. 2 is for Limited Construction Phase Services according to the current Agreement
dated October 5, 2020. The Scope of Services provides a comprehensive list of the tasks Calhoun-
Burns and Associates, Inc. and the sub-consultant, Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. will perform. These limited
services are to compliment the full time construction observation and testing services provided by City
staff. The Fee Estimate established the not-to-exceed fee for the proposed Scope of Services. The
project is to be completed by year end 2022.
All provisions of the original Agreement remain in effect except as modified by this Amendment No.
2.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Contract Amendment No. 2 will
be for amount not to exceed $42,000.00.

RESOLUTION 2021-
APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES
AMENDMENT NO. 2 WITH CALHOUN-BURNS AND ASSOCIATES, INC. [NW
DOUGLAS PARKWAY CULVERT AND POND IMPROVEMENTS]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the City has retained the consultant services of Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc.
for the NW Douglas Parkway Culvert and Pond Improvements Project; AND,
WHEREAS, the original Agreement for Professional Consulting Services with Calhoun-Burns
and Associates, Inc. was approved on October 5, 2020 (RES 2020-371); AND,
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 1 included additional permitting, design and bid phase services
was approved on July 19, 2021 (RES 2021-322); AND,
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 2 provides a comprehensive list of the tasks Calhoun-Burns and
Associates, Inc. and sub-consultant Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. will perform;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the
Agreement for Professional Consulting Services Amendment No. 2 between Calhoun-Burns and
Associates, Inc. and the City of Waukee, Iowa [NW Douglas Parkway Culvert and Pond
Improvements] is hereby approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 20th day of
December, 2021.
