AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A CHARTER FOR THE CITY OF WAUt__'EE, IMA, EMBODYING
THE EXISTING FORM OF GOVERNMENT ON October 15:; 2,7, , 1973.
Be It Enacted by the Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa:
Section 1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide for a charter
embodying the form of government existing on October 15 1973.
Section 2. CHARTER. This ordinance may be cited as the Charter of the City of
Waukee, Iowa.
Section 3. FORM OF GOVERNMENT. The form of government of the City of Waukee,
Iowa, is the Mayor -Council form of government.
Section 4. POWERS and DUTIES. The council and mayor and other city officers
have such powers and shall perform such duties as are authorized or required by state law and
by the ordinances, resolutions, rules, and reguiations of the City of 'Waukee, Iowa.
Section 5. NUMBER and TERM OF COUNCIL. The council consists of five councilmen
elected at large, elected for terms of two years .
Section 6 . TERM OF MAYOR,, The mayor is elected for a term of two years.
Section 7. COPIES ON FILE, The City Clerk shall keep an official copy of this
Charter on file with the official records of the City Clerk, shall immediately file a copy with
the Secretary of State of Iowa, and shall keep copies of the Charter available at the City Clerk's
office for public inspection.
Section Bo WHEN EFFECTIVE. This ordinance is in effect after its final passage,
approval, and publication as required by law,
Passed the 15th day of October , 1973 and approved this 15th day of
October , 1973.

am the duly appointed, qualified and acting Clerk of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and
that as such Clerk, I have in my possession and have access to the complete
corporate records of said municipality and of its council and officers, and that I have
carefully compared the transcript hereto attached of an ordinance adopting a Charter
for the City of Waukee, Iowa, embodying the existing form of government, and that
said transcript hereto attached is a true, correct and complete copy of all of said
ordinance, and that said ordinance was duly enacted by the council of the Town,
now City of Waukee, Iowa on the 15th day of October, 1973 and that the same
is now in full force and effect as a duly enacted ordinance of said municipality®
