SPECIAL MEETING
May 9, 2022
A. Call to Order — The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor Clarke
at 12:04 p.m. at Waukee City Hall, 230 W. Hickman Rd.
B. Roll Call — The following members were present: Mayor Courtney Clarke; Council Members R. Charles
Bottenberg (electronically), Larry R. Lyon (electronically), Ben Sinclair (electronically). Absent: Council
Members Chris Crone, Anna Bergman Pierce.
Also in attendance: City Administrator Brad Deets, Economic Development Coordinator Jennifer
Brown, City Clerk Rebecca D. Schuett.
C. Agenda Approval — Council Member Lyon moved to approve the agenda; seconded by Council
Member Sinclair. Results of vote: Ayes: Bottenberg, Lyon, Sinclair. Nays: None. Absent: Crone,
Pierce. Motion carried 3 — 0 — 2.
D. Action Items:
1) Resolution: Consideration of approval of a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant
application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Destination Iowa Grant —
Council Member Sinclair moved to approve the resolution; seconded by Council Member Lyon.
Economic Development Coordinator Brown noted that the grant application was for a project in the
Kettlestone district. Results of vote: Ayes: Bottenberg, Lyon, Sinclair. Nays: None. Absent: Crone,
Pierce. Motion carried 3 — 0 — 2. (Resolution #2022-197)
E. Comments
Council Member Bottenberg moved to adjourn; seconded by Council Member Sinclair. Ayes: All. Nays:
None. Motion carried 3 — 0.
