RESOLUTION 2023-544
RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF CITY OF WAUKEE
COUNCIL MEMBER LARRY R. LYON
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WA UKF,E, IOWA
WHEREAS, Larry R. Lyon has served as a Waukee City Council Member from November
1997-December 1999, and most recently from 2016-2023; AND,
WHEREAS, at various times during his years on Waukee City Council, Larry acted as council
liaison to the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce, Waukee Community School District,
Central Iowa Regional Drinking Water Commission, Dallas County Local Housing Trust Fund
and Developer's Roundtable; AND,
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Larry has played a vital leadership role in a period of
tremendous growth and progress in the community, including significant population increases,
record -breaking building permit and valuation statistics, and substantial city infrastructure
improvements, AND,
WHEREAS, he has also helped guide the positive development of Waukee through active
participation in annual strategic planning and goal setting, he is a strong advocate for Waukee
residents and a mentor for council members, and always encourages his fellow elected officials
to brainstorm and consider "moonshot" projects; AND,
WHEREAS, Larry's willingness to serve on the Waukee City Council and his commitment to
the betterment of Waukee for all its residents is an outstanding example of public service.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
18"' day of December, 2023, that its members hereby express their sincere appreciation and
thanks to Larry R. Lyon for his years of dedicated service as a Waukee City Council Member.
