Session on 7th day of May,1969,pursuant to
canvas the results on the 6th May special
The meeting was called to order by Vincent J Meye r Mayor pro-tem,in the Chair:
and the following named Couhilmen were present:Merle Rees,Daniel Gardne r,Robert Apple gate,
A bsent Bernard Boone,and Dr Chas W.Howe.
Total ballots cast 353,of which 256 votes were cast Yes and 93 votes were cast No and
4 ballots were cast blank or defectively marked.It is hereby OCK determined a nd declared that
the aforesaid proposition was duly carried,and it is hereby ordered that the results of this
canvass shall be duly entered on the records in the office of the Town Clerk.and minutes

Regular Council Meeting May 12,1969
Regular Council meeting was held May 12,1969 at the Waukee,Town Hall with Mayor
Howe presiding and all Couclmen Pre sent.
Moved by Garnder seconded by Boone to approve Minutes as read Carried 5-0
Moved by Applegate seconded by Meye r s to approve claims as presented by clerk and
rgister the same in the register bo-k Carried 5-0.
Members of the JC met withe the Council regarding ceelebration in Sept.
M Dennit Mcllinne-iY'0et with the Council regarding water on third Street.
Moved by Rees and seconded by Applegate to meet with Township Trustees regarding Muta 1
fire equipmen t T01<U share to be 50%.Carried 5-0.
Moved by Rees seconded by Gardner to Sponser Roller skating this summer at a cost of
$40.00 per night.Carried 5-0.II.file.
Moved by Meyer and seconded Rees to accept the town audit on gas and town funds and
Carried 5-0.
Moved by Boone and seconded by Gardner to purchased a Federal 10 Hr 3 Way Fire Siren
at a cost of $2700.00 Carried 5-0.

Lenore W.Kirkland,for purchased of town park.Warrant w ill be honore d by Brenton
Bank ,and when Bonds are sold will pay the Bank the amount and interest by law •

Special Meeting May 17,1969
The Waukee Town Council held a special meeting May 17,with Mayor presiding and all Councilman
present except Applegate.
This meeting was called regard the park.
Moved by Boone and seconded by Garland to instruct the Clerk to do what is needed to to
get plans and materials to Commerce Commission to get grant for the Town Park.4-0.
Selling of Bonds were disgussed by the Council,attorney to check with Bonding Attorney regarding
the Sale

Moved by Applegate seconded by Gardiner to approve minu.es as read.Carried.
Ronald Olson and Joe Neubauer,members of'the Planning Commission,met with the council.
LaVerne Jones,Wayne Erdman and Clair Eason met with the council regarding the proposed
park.
John Carter met with the council to discuss assessmenL on 6th street.
Moved by Rees seconded by Gardiner to approve 17 additional gas service lines to be
installed at Jo Lane Mobile Estate.
WiL~iris and Bussard,Architects,presented the lay-out for the proposed park to the
council.M
Moved by Applegate seconded by Rees to approve preliminary plat #4 in Corene Acres.
Carried.
The council discussed Chapter 98 of the Code of Iowa on "Cigarettes &Tobacco."98.2,I
98.3,98.4 and 98.5 will be enf'oroed.
Moved by Applegate seconded by Rees to grant cigarette permit to Golden Spu~,Nizzi
Brother~,Jackson Grocery,Edts Tavern,McClure.Skelly and Uptown Cafe.Carried.
Moved by Rees seconded by Applegate to pUblish in the Dallas County News the sale of
$36,000 Park Bonds to be sold on June 30,1969.Carried.
Moved by Rees seconded by Applegate to accept and file the park map at a cost of $691.50
Carried.
