The regular council meeting was held May 4,1:!P71,at the town hall with
Mayor Boone presiding and the following Councilmen present--Rees,11Orris,
Gardiner,and Blessing.George Kramer came in later.
:f1..obertFrush met with the Council regarding Copeland ground northeast of
town of Ashworth Drive.
Mr Gross representing Howard Ieopold met with the Council on buying the
Hinkson trailer court and how the Council felt about additional trailers.
Council forwarded to Planning and Zoning Commission.
Virginia Clarkson,Joe Reagan,Jim Berner,Ruby Mertes,and Dennis
Dolmage visited the Council.
Moved by Rees,second by Blessing,to approve minutes as read.Carried4toO..
Moved by Morris,second by Gardiner,that the mayor be given authority
to hire a police officer.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Gardiner,second by Blessing,to instruct atto~ey,Paul
Huscher,to write up a note cancelling previous contract with rural fire
department.
Moved by Rees,second by Morris,to sponser swimming on same basis as last
year.Carried 4 to O.
Moved by Rees,second by Blessing,=to allocate $350.00 for fire works
at park.Carried 5 to O.~.
Moved by Gardiner,second by Morris,to allocate $70.00 for summer band
music.Carried 5 to O.
The Council discussed renting radar for town.
Ordinance for park was discussed by Council.
Moved by Rees that the park be closed at sundown.No second.
Council to have special meeting on park ordinance.
No sign on highway regarding park.
Moved by Rees,second by Gardiner,to instruct Iowa Power &Light Co to
install 5-175 watt vapor lights with steel poles and underground wire at no
extra charge to town.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Gardiner,second by Blessing,to install gas lights in park

Moved by Morris,second by Kramer,to purchase flag pole for park.
Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Rees,second by Blessing,to purchase roller at a cost of $1575.00

Moved by Morris,second by Blessing,to accept and file study of sewer.

Moved by Blessing,second by Morris,to purchase office equipment at cost

Moved by Rees,second by Blessing,to purchase a 60 horsepower pump at cost

1Ilirconditioning of the fire station was discussed by Council,Moved by
Bees,second by Blessing,to air condition fire station at cost of $400.00.
Carried 5 to O.
Planning and Zoning recommends that the property owned by Jack Carey on the
southeast corner of Fourth Street and Highway 6 be changed from R-2 to C-1.

presiding and all councilmen present except Kramer.
Movedby Morris,second by Blessing,that the minutes by approved
as read.Carried 4 to O.
Movedby Gardiner second by Morris,to put wood shingles on shelter
house.Carried 4 to O.
Movedby Gardiner,second by Rees,to authorize slerk to spend up to
#3,000.00 for restrooms at park.Carried 4 to O.
Movedby Rees,second by Morris,to authorize mapor and clerk to hire
a night man.Carried 4 to O.
Movedby Rees,second by Blessing,to grant cigarette permits to :

Councilmen Raes introduced an ordinance resolution entitled:
"An Ordinance Establishing Rules Governing the TownParks in the Townof
Waukee:"
It was movedby Councilmen Raes and seconded by Councilmen Gardiner
that the Ordinance now be read by the clerk.The mayor put the question
on the motion,and the roll being called,the following named Councifumen
voted:Ayes--Raes,Blessing,Horris,and Gardiner.Naysmone Motion
carried.
It was movedby Councilmen Morris·and seconded by Councilmen Rees,that
the rule requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate days be dis-
pensed with.The mayor put the question on the motown,and the roll being
called,the following named Councilmen voted:Awes--Raes,Blessing,Morris
and Gardiner.Nays--none.Motion carried.
