HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-05-25-Special Minutes59 !;faY26,1973 THe Concil of Waukee,Iowa,met in special session at 7:30 p.m.at the TownHall in Waukee on the 26th day of May,1n3.The me.eting was called to order by Mayor Bernard Boone and the following councilmen were preaent r George Kramer,Harry Jones,Jack Carpe,Dr Ronald Blessing.Abserrbt vacancy. Matters concerning the raising of funds to defray the cost of construct- ing street improvement in and for the municipality were discussed; whereupon councilman Blessing introduced and cause to be read in full a resolution entitled:"Resolution to fix a date of meeting at which it is proposed to take action for the issuance of $50,000.00 Street Improvement Bonds",'and moved its adoption,second by councilman Kramer.After due consideration of the resolution by the Council,the Mayor put the' question on the motions and the roll being caned,the following named council members votes: Ayes:Kramer,Jones,Carpe,Blessing Nays:none Whereupon,the Mayor declared the reslUution duly adopted and signed his approval thereto. The matter of offering Street Improvement Bonds for sale was discussed, Whereupon council memberKramer introduced and caused to be read and moved the adoption of a resolution entitled:"Resoljjtion prov\id1i.ngfor the advertisement of $50,000 Street Imprevement Bonds".Oouncd.ImanBlessing seconded the motion and after due censideration by the council,the Mayor put the question on the motion and the roll being called,the follawing nanad Council membersvoted: Ayes:Jones,Kramer,Blessing,Garpe Nays:none RESOLUTION To fix·1i date of meeting at which it is proposed to take action for the issuance of $50,000 Street Improvement Bonds WHERE.I\.S,it is necessary and for the best interests of Waukee, Iowa,and its inhabitants that street improvements be ccnstructdld in and for the municipality and it is necessary that the cost thereof,to the amount of $50,QOObe now provided for throu~h the issuance of bonds payable from the proceeds of taxes levied on all the taxable property in the municipality,but it is necessary first to provide for notice and hearing in the manner and ferm required by Chapter 23 of the Code of Iowa,1973,as amended; NOWTHEREFORE,Be it resolved by the Council of Waukee,Iowa as follows: SecUon 1.That this Council meet at the TownHall,Waukee Iowa,on the 25th day of June,1973,at 7 :30 p.m.at which time and place proceedings will be instituted and action taken for the issuance of the aforementioned Street Improvement Bonds ofr the purpose of construct- ing street improvement.s Section 2.That the Clerk is hereby directed to givenotice of the proposed action for the issuance of the bonds,setting forth the amount and purpose thereof,the time when and place where the meeting will be held,by publication at least onee not less than ten (10)days before t.he meeting,in the Dallas County News,a legal newspaper of general c:ilrculation within the municipality. Publication was made June 6,1973 in Dallas County NeliS. 60 Whereupon,the Mayor declared the resolution duly adopted and signed his approval thereto. On motion and vote the meeting adjourned. Mayor Clerk June 8,1973 The Waukee council met in @ecial session on June 8,1973 with Mayor Boone presiding and the following councilmen present:Cappe,Kramer, Jones,Blessing.This meeting was called to have CPADan Gardiner present the town audit to the council. Mr Gardiner presented his comments.One copy of audit to be sent in to State. Mayor Movedby Kramer,second by Blessing,to receive lind file the town audit.Carried 4 to O. Movedby Kramer,second by Jones,to approve claim for $1,019.60 to Dan Gardiner for audit.Carried Ii to O. The council discussed drainage going south across Mrs Paullins ground. Movedby Carpe,second by Jones,to pay Mrs Paullin $1500.00 per acre for 8.01 acres of ground.Carried 4 to O. Meeting adjourned. June 11,1973 The regular council meeting was held on June 11,1973 with Mayor Boone presiding and the following councilmen were present:Carpe,Kramer, Jones and Blessing.Absent:vacancy Mrs Porter met with the council regarding the btcycle ordinance and sidewalks. Movedby Blessing,second by Jones,to amend the bicycle ordinance. Carried 4 to O. Councilman Blessing introduced an Ordinance Resolution entitled:II An",,GrdinanceAmendingAn Ordimnce Establishing Rules and RegulationsfortheRegistrationofBicycles,Equipment on Bicycles,The Use of
