April 8,1974
Regular Council meeting was held April 8,1974,with Nayor Boone presiding and
the following councilmen present Carpe,Copland and Jones.
Noved by Jones seconded by Carpe to approve the minutes as read.Carried 3-0.
Council ~gted by ballot to replace Councilman Kopecky who had resigned.Ron
Larson received 3 votes.
Noved by Jones seconded by Copland that Ron Larson be installed as Councilman.
Carried.
Clerk Remo Nizzi gave the oath of office to Ron Larson.
Jerry Wright,Fire Chief,met with the council regarding a new fire truck.
Noved by Jones seconded by Larson to purchase equipment for summer recreation
program up to $150.00.Carried.
Noved by Carpe seconded by Copland to hire Kathleen Jones for summer recreation
director at $650.00 and helpers at a cost of $150 each.Carried3 to O.Jones
not voting.
Noved by Jones seconded by Copland to send Equitable Realty the following letter:
Dear Sir:
At its regular meeting April 8,1974,the Council of the City of Waukee discussed
the proposal submitted by you for development of 80 acres referred to as the
Hester farm,which you propose to divide into 122 building lots for residenUal
purposes as shown by your prelimenary drawing now on file with of City of Waukee,
Iowa.
The council indicated it would give favorable consideration to your proposal on
the follolving basis:
1.The City of Waukee has a water system.
2.The City of Waukee has a city sanitary system.
3.That the City of Waukee would sell water to the 122 residential lots you
have proposed at its regular rates to its other residents.
4.That the City of Waukee would allow severage to be run into its present
system at rates to be set by the City of Waukee.
Provided,that the developer meets the follolving conditions:
1.The developer must provide annexation proceedings initiatlldby developer \'
at developer's cost which will be done in time for completion no later
than 6 months from date (April 8,1974).
2.The developer must wi thin 6 months from date (April 8,1974);secure
approval of a preliminary plat in conformity with the preliminary dra.nng
now on file with the City of Waukee,Iowa.
3.Developer shall provide,under supervision of City of Waukee,
to the public a cast iron 12"water main from the development
present municipal water to.nar of Waukee,Iowa.

Harry Jones sent letter of resignation from the Council effective April 9,1974.
Movedby Copland seconded by Carpe to accept Jones's resignatton.Carried.
Movedby Carpe seconded by Larson to hire Harry Jones as a city employeeat a
salary of $765.00 per month.Carried 3 to O.

Special meeting of the Waukee T01,nCouncil Has held April lifl,1974,at 7:30 P.M.
at the tOHn hall.This Has a joint meeting of the City Council,Planning and
Zoning Commission and Env:i.ronmental Design .
Present at this meeting were Mayor Boone,Councilmen Larson,Sears and Copland,.
Planning &Zoning members Berner,Dolmage,Mertes and Grandfield,Dick Walters,
Joe Breck and Ludw.Igof Design Group.
lengthy discussion Has held regarding the ground east of vlauken along Hi.ghway6
to the County Li.ne,At the concLusl.on of discussion it was decided to appoint
a comm:i.t tee from Haukee and surrounding territory to meet with this group and
report.
Mayor Boone appointed RamoNizzi as chairman.Also named was Al Sears from
the CouncLl and Jim Berner from P'lanrring &Zoning.Others would be named at
a later date.
