HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-11-11-Regular Minutes91 Regular meeting of the Waukee City council was held November 11, 1974,with Mayor Boone presiding and the following named council members present--Carpe,Bomme1 and Copeland.Absent--Larson,Sears. Moved by Carpe seconded by Bomme1 to approve minutes as read.Carried. Kenneth Spoerry met with the council regarding drainage of the Catholic church parking lot,east of his property.Spoerry Stated that since the lot was blacktopped it was raised and now water fs coming onto his property and causing problems.After discussion the council decided to have Oakes Engineering look into the situation and see what could be done. Mr.Levorson,member of the school saftety committee,reported that more lighting was needed on East street.Clerk to check with Iowa Power &Light. Remo Nizzi,clerk,gave the council a report on the water. Paul Huscher discussed the Gene Franks property.He stated that they would sell for $1500 per acre and the city install the fence. Moved by Copeland seconded by Bomme1 to purchase approximately 7 acres of land from Mr.and Mrs.Gene Franks at $1500 per acre.Oakes to survey and give Paul Huscher a legal dffiscription Carr~ed 3 to O. Moved by Copeland seconded by Carpe to hire Dick Romine for Sunday night patrol at 4 dollars per hour.Carried 3 to O. Moved by Bomme1 seconded by Copeland to purchase aGE portable radio at a cost of $873.16,to be used by the Fire Department and other departments as needed.To be paid for with Revenue Sharing. Carried 3 to O. Moved by Carpe seconded by Bomme1 to approve maintenance contract for water tower of $499.00.Carried ~to O. Low rent housing was discussed by the council. The council instructed the city clerk to have Engineer Oakes start procedures and surveying for grading of ashworth road,East of the present paving to East Road.Report findings to the city council at the next meeting. Upgrading present ordinances and making new ones was discussed. Attorney Huscher to report on cost. Meeting adjourned. CkerkMayor I
