Regular meeting of the Waukee City council was held January 13,1975 with Mayor
Boone presiding and all councilmen present.
Moved by Copeland seconded by Carpe to approve minutes as read.Carried 5 to O.
Harold Bissell met with the eouncd L concerning water run off on first street.
A group of citizens met with the council regarding more police protection for
the city.The city of Waukee had 3 break-ins the first week of January:Waukee
Meat Market,Eds Tavern and Olson Service Station.This was 3rd break-in at
Olson's during the last 3 months and the 2nd break-in at FAils.
Merle Rees met with the council regarding the Waukee police department.
Council had a lengthy discussion about the police department.

Moved by Copeland seconded by Larson that the City hire two
policemen;which would give the city 3 full time policemen.
3 to 11 and 11 to 7 seven days a week,starting February 1,
the part time police for back up.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Sears seconded by Copeland to reappoint Web Jones and Ruth Aldrich
for 5 year terms on Library Board.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Bommell seconded by Carpe to reappoint Terry Kurtz on Board of Adjustments
for 5 years.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Sears seconded by Bommell to reappoint Jim Berner to Planning and
Zoning Commission for 5 years.Carried 5 to O.
Council discussed other candidates for vacancy on P~anning &Zoning.Clerk to
check with these individuals and report back.
Moved by Carpe seconded by Copeland to name Brenton Bank as the official depository
for the City of waukee in -the amount of $200,000.Carried 5 to O.
Paul Huscher to write a letter to Dr.Johnson's attorney in anStier to his letter
received.
Moved by Sears seconded by Copeland to reappoint Paul Huscher attorney for City
at $105.50 per month.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Larson seconded by Bommel to designate the second Monday of each month
at -1:30 P.M.at City hall for regular council meeting.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Sears seconded by Copeland to enter into agreement with Layne-Western
Company of Ames to do 4 geological resistivity surveys on four parcels of
ground;not to exceed $1,000.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Bommel seconded by Copeland to allow payment to Nancy Paullin Beatty
of $1,000 Bs per contract on land purchased for sanitary department.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Bommel seconded by sears to pay Wayme Erdraan $2188.80 for damages on
route of storm sewer.Carried 5 to O.
Moved by Sears seconded by Larson to contact the Federal Census department to
do a special census for City of Waukee.Carried 5 to O.

The C01111Cildiscussed the letter received from John Wright,Sheriff of Dallas
county,asking the city for $75 per month.It was decided to write a letter
to the Board of Supervisors saying that if more money was needed they should
levy more on taxation.
The council discussed annexation,solid waste and additional water.These
future projects to be discussed fur'ther at a future meeting.

The regular council meeting was held on February'10,1975 with Mayor Boone
presiding and all councilmen present.
Moved by Sears,second by Copeland,to approveminutes as read.Carried 5 to O.
Representative of Civil Defense met with the council and discussed different
phases of Civil Defense.Also attending the meIDting were:County Director of
Civil Defense,Curt Murphy--Sherrif John Wright--Dallas County'Health Officer--
Supt.of Schools Clair Eason ..-Rev.Robert Dally--Ray Clark from School Board--
fire chief Jerry Wright and Kate Spoerry.
Moved.by Bommel,second by Carpe,to ;;>ppointa committee to investigate the
feasii.biJityof forming a civil defense committee.Ron larson was appointed
as chairman,lvi th Nayor Boone and.Ramo Nizzi to work on forming a permanent
committee on civil defense.
Fire Chief,Jerry Wdght,met 1.n.th the councf.L regarding the fire department.
The deparunent needs 15 pair of boots at a cost of $645.00 and 200 feet each
of different size fire hose.Fire contract to increase from $500.00 to $700.00
per year.Also a discussion was held on a new fire truck.Representatives
of fire equipment companies are to be asked in to talk to the council.
