July 14,1975 The Waukee city council held it I S regular meeting on July 14,1975 with Mawor Boone presiding and all councilmen present except Jack Carpe. Moved by Copeland,second by Bomme l ,to approve minutes as read. Carried 4 to O. Moved by Larson,second by Bommel,to pay D C Construction $22,414.50. Carried 4 to O. Moved by Bommel,second by Copeland,to approve the to the library board:Phoebe Bartelt,Alice Leonard Swanson.Carried 4 to O. following persons and Barbara Moved by BOlmnel,second by Grandfield, the Planning &Zoning Commission:Joe and Dick Herbert.Carried 4 to O. to appoint the following to Powell,Robert Gallagher, Bob Ockerman of Iowa PO;ler &Light met with the council regarding a 25 year franchise for Iowa Power. A motion made by Larson not to consider a call for election for a 25 year franchise to Iowa Power &I.:i.ghtat this meeting died for lack of a second. Moved by BOrlll1lel,second by Copeland,to call for an election for a 25 year franchise for Iowa Power.Yes votes--Bommel and Copeland. No votes--Larson and Grandfield.Hayor Boone broke the tie vote with a no vote.Motion did not carry. Moved by Larson,second by Copeland,to award the contract for 3" black base on 4th Street to Benderoff Co at a cost of $3.29 per yard. Iowa Road Builders bid--$3.79 per yard.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Grandfield,second by Bommel,to approve payment to Huber Construction of $4985.60 for grading from 2nd Street to East Street on Ashworth.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Larson,second by Bommel,to instruct the clerk to have published in the Dallas County News a heari.ng on selling lots 9 and 10 in the original town on 5th Street by auction.Said hearing to be held at the city hall on July 29,1975 at 7:00 p.m. Carried 11.to O. Moved by Copeland,second by Bommel,to approve annual dues of $214.00 to Iowa League of Municipalities.Carried 4 to O. Moved by Larson,second by Graadfield,to authorize clerk to hire extra help for the summer.Carried 4cto O. Moved by Copeland,second by Larson,to approve claim for riding mower--10 horsepower--complete $832.25.Carried 4 to O. Councilman Ron Larson,then moved the adoption of the follomng resolution and Councilman Hugh Grandfield,seconded the motion and upon the role being called the following votes ..rere taken:Aye:Copeland, Grnadfie]~and Larson.Nays:none Motion carried. RESOLUTION Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Waukee,Io"la, sell the follomng described real estate in the City of Waukee, Dallas County,Iowa: Lots 9 and 10 in Block 10 in Original Town of Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa, At pnb'l.i,cauction at 2 :00 p.m,on the 16th day of August,1 '175 at the city hall reserving to the City of Waukee the right to reject any and all bids on said property;and that notice of the sale of said property be published in the Dallas C01Ulty News of the 6th day of August,1975,and also on the 13th day of August,1975. Discussion was held on changing name of street from Ashworth Drive to University Avenue because of new paving.This subject will be discussed more at the next meeting.
